DON’T MISS PET-A-PALOOZA AT

ODDFELLOWS PARK NEXT MONTH

GREAT FALLS, Montana – You won’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Pet-A-Palooza on Saturday, June 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Oddfellows Park (located on River Drive N between Broadwater Bay & Warden Bridge). This FREE community event promises to be fun for the entire family – including your four-legged family members! The day’s lineup includes K-9 demonstrations, children’s activities, music, education seminars, food, craft and artisan vendors as well as competitions for your pets and so much more! Both the Pet-Paw-See and Humane Society will have pets available for adoptions as well. The Great Falls Animal Shelter will be closed during the event.

There will be FREE pet competitions throughout the day, so all pets, regardless of size, type and talent are encouraged to participate. Categories include best dressed, talent, dunking for hot dogs, musical sit, peanut butter lick, best decorated pet habitat and a wiener race!

All pets (big and small) are welcome at Pet-A-Palooza, but please remember to bring cats and dogs on leashes (or in crates). Little critters (rats, hamsters, rabbits, snakes, etc.) must be brought in their enclosed habitat.

Pet-A-Palooza is coordinated by the Shelter Sidekicks, the Volunteer Program at the Great Falls Animal Shelter. When asked about the creation of the event, Laura McElhinney, the Shelter Volunteer Coordinator, explained, “Last year, the Sidekicks really wanted to create a new community event that was family and pet friendly and that promoted responsible pet ownership. It was important to our volunteers that the event be fun and entertaining for everyone attending!”

The funds raised during Pet-A-Palooza will go towards the “Help Us Grow Project,” which will help fund future expansion and improvements at the Shelter. The improvements include a cattery, enhancements to the canine area as well as front office renovations.

When asked about her expectations for next month’s event, Laura had this to say, “We are excited about this year’s event and look forward to continuing to develop Pet-A-Palooza. Last year’s event was a success and people seemed to enjoy socializing with their pets and supporting a good cause.”

Wolf 104.9 and Star 101.7 will be on site during the event providing music and a live radio broadcast. Current event sponsors include F & L Pet Resort, Petco and Big R. There are still spaces available for food and retail vendors and the Shelter Sidekicks are still looking for sponsors for the event as well.
