JUNE IS ADOPT-A-CAT MONTH
GREAT FALLS, Montana – Spring in Montana brings tulips, daffodils, warm weather and cat adoptions! June is Adopt-A-Cat Month and according to the American Humane Association each spring during “kitten season,” thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters across the country. The Great Falls Animal Shelter has a number of cute, cuddly newborns, in addition to older, mellow cats and everything in between – just waiting for a new home. During the month of June, the Shelter will be running an adopt-a-cat promotion to encourage cat adoptions.
Currently the Shelter has approximately over 40 cats awaiting adoption. As part of June’s promotion, new pet owners will have the option of taking home an adorable new playmate for one low-cost adoption fee. Throughout June, all cat adoption fees will be $40, which includes a refundable rabies deposit. Cats that are not altered will be transported to a veterinarian of the new owner’s choice to be spayed or neutered. All animals leaving a Montana shelter must be spayed or neutered per Montana Code Annotated and the new pet owner is responsible for the cost of spaying/neutering.
Cats are the perfect addition to any family – they are great companions and can help make any house a home. Adopting a cat is a long-term commitment as the average house cat lives between 12 and 20 years. The adoption cost for cats is so low during the month of June; new pet owners can double their fun and take home two!
Staff at the Great Falls Animal Shelter is ready to help prospective pet owners find their perfect match. For more information about adopting a cat or becoming a new pet owner, contact the Great Falls Animal Shelter at 454-2276.
