Videotapes submitted for cablecast must meet technical standards to ensure continued quality programming for our Cable 7 viewers:

  1. Acceptable tape formats are 3/4" U-Matic, VHS or S-VHS videotape recorded at the standard speed (no LP or SLP).
  2. Producers must allow 30 seconds of black as leader prior to the start of the program.
  3. Submitted tapes will use audio channel two only (monaural audio, no stereo tracks) and must be clear with no unintended sources of sound.
  4. The tape will have any previous video or audio erased following the end of the program.
  5. Video levels will be at or near acceptable broadcast standards.
  6. The tape will have a clearly marked running time from the first frame of the program to the last frame in minutes and seconds.
  7. Producers will attach a label to the tape listing the title, producer's name, and the running time of the program.

In cases where Cable 7 staff finds a tape technically unsuitable for telecasting, the tape will be returned to the producer with suggestions on how the problem can be corrected or avoided for future programming.
