Commission Selects Applicant to Fill Vacancy

The City Commission selected Bob Kelly to fill the Commission seat being vacated by Commissioner Jolley. The Commission will make their formal appointment at the next Commission meeting on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Mr. Kelly will be sworn in and take office at the Commission Meeting on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. His appointment will be for one year.

On November 14, Commissioner Mary Jolley announced her resignation effective December 18, 2012, due to her newly elected position as Justice of the Peace. Jolley has served on the Commission since 2008. According to the City Charter, “When a Commission vacancy occurs, the City Commission, may, by majority vote of its remaining members, appoint a person, eligible to hold such office, to fill the vacancy of City Commissioner or Mayor until the next regular City election. The person elected at the next regular City election shall serve the unexpired term of the office in which the vacancy occurred.” The next City election is scheduled for November 2013.

Bob is retired from DA Davidson where he had a 25-year career in public finance and municipal bond underwriting. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Belt Valley Bank.  Bob recently served as the Vice President of Sports and Competition for Special Olympics Montana where he coordinated statewide volunteer efforts. He has been actively involved in the community in such activities as the Lincoln Elementary PTA, Special Olympics, Great Falls Advisory Council on International Relationships, Kids Education Yes and the Audubon Society. He currently is the Tennis Coach for CMR High School.
