CITY HIRES NEW CITY ATTORNEY

GREAT FALLS, Montana – The City is excited to announce that after a nationwide search, Sara Sexe has accepted the position as City Attorney. Sara is a Great Falls native and has been practicing law for twenty-three years, most recently with the firm of Marra, Sexe, Evenson & Bell, P.C. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Juris Doctor from the University of Montana. Sara will be replacing Dave Nielsen who has been Acting City Attorney since August 2012; the position was vacated by Jim Santoro earlier last summer. She will be transitioning out of her private practice role and into the position of City Attorney this summer.

Sara’s background is diverse. She has worked in many areas of civil litigation including employment, workers’ compensation, insurance and personal injury. She also has experience with contracts and business transactions as well as real estate, employment and civil rights laws.

Over the years she has served on the Housing Authority Board, participated in Leadership Great Falls, been a State Fair 4H horse show judge and coached youth sports teams. She is currently a Cascade County Law Clinic Board Member, a trustee for the Animal Foundation of Great Falls and co-chair for the State Bar of Montana Continuing Legal Education Institute.  She is past president of the Cascade County Bar Association. Sara is a proud Rustler graduate from Charles M. Russell High School and a University of Montana Track Hall of Fame Inductee.

According to Greg Doyon, City Manager, “Sara was a perfect fit for us. We’re lucky to have her. Her diverse experience, legal knowledge and enthusiasm make Sara an asset to the organization and our leadership team.”
