UPDATE ON SUSPICIOUS ODOR AT BNSF RAILYARD
GREAT FALLS, Montana – This afternoon at 1 p.m. the 911 Center received a call regarding a suspicious odor coming from an empty tank car enroute to the Calumet Refinery. As of 4:30 p.m., the Great Falls Fire Rescue Hazardous Materials team (HAZMAT) identified a minor fume leak coming from a valve at the top of a tank car; this leak presents no immediate threat to the public. Until repairs can be made, the valve will be covered and the empty tank car will remain in place. The City's HAZMAT Team has cleared the site and turned it back over to BNSF.
