Art at the Library

In August and September quilts by quilters from Big Sky Quilts will be featured in the Great Falls Public Library.

Adult Summer Reading Program

Why Should Kids Have All the Fun?

The Great Falls Public Library continues its annual Adult Summer Reading program, Between the Covers, through August 14. This program highlights how reading opens up worlds both real and imaginary. Anyone 19 and older with a library card can participate. Library cards are FREE to anyone who lives in Cascade County. To get a card, bring in picture ID and proof of address.

Participation is simple. For every book read through August 14 participants will be able to submit an entry for a grand prize drawing, which will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at the Summer Reading final party. Entry forms will be available at the library. Prizes include a year’s worth of free downtown parking, a Sony e-reader, and a $50 gift certificate from Big Mouth Barbeque.

We will also hold drawings every two weeks for participants who submit correctly completely games and quizzes. Prizes will include extra-large book bags, t-shirts, and coffee mugs.

Patrons are also encouraged to submit their own brief book reviews. Staff approved reviews shall be posted in the lobby of the library. Interactive games and displays will also be featured, allowing participants to get more involved in the program.

Summer Reading Party

The Great Falls Public Library is hosting a Summer Reading Party on Wednesday, August 15, from 5 – 7 pm in the Library Park. This celebration is free and open to everyone.

The party will feature Shriner clowns; along with their clown car and a dunk tank where party goers can dunk volunteers (volunteers include Cascade County Commissioner Jane Weber, Assistant City Manager Jenn Riechelt., and Legislator and Library Board member Mitch Tropila, among others).

Activities will include games and contests, such as a frozen t-shirt contest, an obstacle course, and water balloon tosses, with prizes for the winners. We will also offer face painting and games for toddlers. Prizes are provided by Amazing Toys.

Food vendors will be on hand or folks can bring a picnic dinner.

Participants in the library’s summer reading programs can pick up their prizes at the party. Summer reading grand prizes will be drawn at 6:15 p.m. for both children and adults. Prizes include a mountain bike for kids and a Sony e-reader for adults.

STAR 101.7 will be on site with a remote radio feed. Folks will have a chance to chat with DJ Troy Mellinger.

Music in the Library Park

Come enjoy the sounds of local musicians this summer in a beautiful, relaxing park setting. The Great Falls Public Library continues the 12th annual Music in the Library Park Series in August. These programs are free and open to the public. Chairs are provided, but people are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather the music will move indoors. Brown Bag Lunch Series

The Great Falls Public Library continues the Brown Bag Lunch programs on Wednesdays in August in the Library Park behind the library from Noon to 1:00 PM. Programs are free and open to the public.
