HOUSING AUTHORITY TO HOST OPEN HOUSE AT SAND HILLS

Great Falls, Montana – The Great Falls Housing Authority is hosting an open house at Sand Hills Housing Development (1517-3 23rd Street S) on Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to noon to celebrate the completion of the final phase of the housing project. The public and members of the media are invited to the open house. Light refreshments will be served. The final phases of the project include 2 four-plex units (8 total units), of which six are already committed to be leased.

Sand Hills Housing Development consists of 16 two-bedroom handicapped adaptable housing units, conveniently located near the MSU College of Technology, the University of Great Falls, and Benefis Healthcare. This is an affordable housing project with pre-established set rental rates. Sand Hills was started in 2010, and since that time, over $2.1 million has been invested in the project. The project was funded through the Montana Department of Commerce and City of Great Falls utilizing U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HOME funds.

According to Kevin Hager, Housing Authority Executive Director, “The completion of the Sands Hill Housing project is a milestone for us. We are very proud of this development, and the craftsmanship that went into each unit. It will help us better serve our community’s housing needs.”

The Great Falls Housing Authority owns and operates five public housing complexes, a Section Eight housing program and 32 units of Affordable Housing in Great Falls, Montana. The public housing and the Section Eight programs provide rental assistance to income eligible individuals.
