Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to an emergency at Calumet Refinery where two employees were reported injured. While treating the patients firefighters determined the injuries may have been attributed to a low level chemical exposure of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). The employees were transported to the hospital for treatment. While on scene, a Great Falls Firefighter was possibly exposed to the chemical and transported to the hospital for assessment and treatment. The firefighter is currently in stable condition.

H2S is an inhalation hazard and was confined to the tank in the area. The low level exposure was confined to the Calumet property and does not pose a danger to the community. The site has been turned back over to Calumet Refinery.
