Takes Emergency 911 calls and dispatches for police, fire and ambulance; prioritizes responses and maintains records; individual judgment required. High school diploma or equivalent, six months dispatching or related experience desirable. Must pass a video assessment (Behavioral Personnel Assessment Device - recorded responses to various scenarios); react and respond efficiently under pressure; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; data entry experience, including the ability to type at least 40 wpm. Position requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve, be detail-oriented, and deal with emotional situations. Requires CJIN/NCIC certification within six months of employment and Public Safety Communication Basic certification within 12 months. An extensive personal history and criminal/records check will be conducted. Schedule involves rotating shifts and days off.
Position is covered by Montana Public Employees Association, Grade 32, salary $28,542.09/year, and increases to $29,398.35 after six months. Upon completion of CJIN certification, position is upgraded to a Grade 34, $29,987.10/year, increasing to $30,886.71 after six months. One year probationary period.
