    The City’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is back again this year, thanks to Jimmy and Debbie Filipowicz of Steel Etc. The family friendly event will be held Saturday, March 26 at the south end of Gibson Park at 11 a.m. It's always fun no matter what the weather!  The Hunt will feature over 6,000 eggs filled with candy and special prizes. In addition, there will be special treats for all participants.  The Easter Bunny will be making a guest appearance so don’t forget your basket!

    The Parking Advisory Commission (PAC) is beginning an in-depth review of the City’s parking program and may consider making changes to improve the program as well as consider options for funding current and future maintenance needs to the facilities. The PAC is seeking public comment and input related to downtown parking operations.  An online downtown parking survey is underway; residents are encouraged to complete the six question survey.  In addition to gathering feedback through the online survey, the PAC will be holding a public meeting on Thursday, April 7, at 6:30 pm in the Gibson Room to hear ideas, comments and opinions from users.

    Eagle Falls Golf Club will open for the season at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15.  The driving range will open at 10 a.m.  Gates open at 9:30 a.m.; the pro shop will also open at 9:30 a.m. daily to schedule tee times.  For tee times call Eagle Falls at 761-1078. The course will be open daily, weather permitting.  Use of carts will be determined based on current conditions and will be evaluated on a daily basis. Anaconda Hills Golf Course will open Friday, April 1.  Anaconda Hills’ season passes will be honored at Eagle Falls through March 31.

    The 37th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race will be held Sunday, April 24, 2016.  Join close to 4,000 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who enter the race each year.  Participants range from recreational walkers, families enjoying an outing, to serious competitive runners.  The five-mile road race offers a competitive format; and the three-mile run offers both a competitive and recreational format. Registration is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Park and Recreation office at 1700 River Drive North. Entry fees are $14 for 10 and under, $20 for 11 and older, $58 for a family of four.

    Operation Prom is coming to a high school near you. This year, Operation Prom will focus on distracted driving (texting and cell phone use) demonstrating the similarities in vehicle behavior and real life consequences to that of drunk driving. The goal is to make the event as realistic as possible, in the hope of preventing vehicle related tragedies in our community. This year’s demonstrations involve staged, two-vehicle crashes at both Great Falls and CMR High schools. The event will be held at CMR High School on March 16, at 2:30 p.m. and at Great Falls High School on March 17,  at 3:10 p.m.

    Park and Recreation is taking team registration for men’s, women’s and coed softball leagues. Teams can register at the Park and Recreation Office, 1700 River Drive North, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Registration forms are available online. League play is scheduled to start on May 2nd.  $450 fee must accompany your registration with an additional $250 ($450 double headers) due prior to league play starting. All teams must be registered by April 22nd.

Hours are 4:00-8:00pm.  Admission is $5 per person.  The Wibit is also available to rent during private parties.

There will be no changes to the residential or commercial sanitation collection schedule next week.

    Get ready for an evening of mystery and mayhem in the Wild West at the Great Falls Animal Shelter’s Fourth Annual Murder Mystery Party! The Shelter Sidekicks are hosting, “Murder at the Deadwood Saloon,” on Saturday, March 5, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge (401 21st St N, Black Eagle). The cost is $40 per person and $75 per couple. The evening includes a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert. A no host bar will also be available. All proceeds from the evening will go towards the Shelter’s Help Us Grow (HUG) Project, which will help fund the Shelter’s future cattery.

This new year, demonstrate your super abilities by rescuing a shelter pet.  In recognition of Change a Pet’s Life Day (1/24), the Shelter is sponsoring There’s a Hero in All of Us Adoption Event Monday, January 25, through Saturday, January 30. Shelter pets (6 months and older) can be adopted for half price. During the event dogs can be adopted for $70 and cats for $25.
