    The City is asking residents located west and north of the river (homes located in Neighborhood Council Districts 1, 2 & 3) to limit their water usage, specifically in regards to watering and irrigating their yards. The watering restriction is in effect until Saturday morning. Primary neighborhoods in the area include Fox Farm, Valley View, Riverview, Skyline Height, Eagle’s Crossing, West Great Falls, Sun River Park area, Garden Home Tracts area, West Hill and Marketplace. Residents can return to their normal watering schedule on Saturday afternoon.

The event is being hosted by the Great Falls Lions Club and Great Falls Park and Recreation. It should be a perfect day for families, neighbors and friends to gather for a day filled with fun, food, entertainment and celebration.

    The Great Falls Police Department Citizens' Academy is designed to help citizens learn how the Police Department operates and the policing challenges facing our community.  The Academy runs twice a year usually in the Spring and Fall, and consists of classroom and “hands on” training with emphasis on student involvement. The Fall 2014 Citizens' Academy is now full.

    The City experienced a major water main break Monday afternoon behind the La Quinta Inn. This main feeds the areas west and north of the Missouri River. During the period of time the main is out of service, the City will not be able to provide enough water to residents west and north of the river if irrigation continues.

    The City is asking residents west and north of the river to refrain from unnecessary water usage, such as watering and irrigating yards starting this evening (Wednesday) at 11 p.m., all day Thursday, all day Friday and Saturday morning. Residents can return to their normal watering schedule on Saturday afternoon.

    During the scheduled power outage on the afternoon of Thursday, July 10, outlying City facilities will remain open, but will not have access to City servers, which means those departments will not be able to receive and send emails or have the ability to take credit card payments.

    The golf courses, water park, parking garages, Passport Parking and the Animal Shelter will only be able to take cash during the  power outage or until the servers and internet are back online.

    The City would like to remind residents, that on Thursday, July 10, Northwestern Energy will be installing a new power pole and replacing the underground power lines to the area immediately adjacent to the Great Falls Civic Center. The installation requires that power be shut off to the impacted buildings. Due to the scheduled power outage, the Civic Center will be closed starting at 12 p.m. Without power employees at the Civic Center are unable to effectively perform the functions of their jobs and serve the public.

The Great Falls Public Library, Community Recreation Center and the Natatorium will also be closed on the 4th. The Great Falls Animal Shelter will be closed on July 4 and 5. There will be no changes to the residential or commercial sanitation collection schedule.

    Beginning on Tuesday, July 1, the Natatorium will undergo changes in hours of operation. During the month of July the Natatorium will only be open to those who participatr in swimming lessons or Aquatic Solution classes. The Natatorium will be closed during the month of August for general maintenance. Lap swimming is available at the Mitchell Pool during the summer, Monday through Thursday from 10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
