    The Great Falls Public Library celebrates Banned Books Week (September 22 – 28) with a unique sculpture; the eight-foot tall mixed media sculpture, complete with torn and burned pages, is composed of 29 banned and challenged books.  Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and draws national attention to the harms of censorship. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted with removal or restrictions in libraries and schools.

    The Great Falls Housing Authority (GFHA) is proud to celebrate its 75th Anniversary tomorrow,  Friday, August 16, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Dronen Hall (1500 Chowen Springs Loop). The celebration will feature memorabilia and photography displays showcasing GFHA’s accomplishments over the past 75 years and bus tours to GFHA properties. The public and members of the media are invited to the Anniversary Celebration. Light refreshments will be served.

Grab your lawn chair and find your favorite viewing spot along the parade route.  The parade begins at 11 a.m. sharp at 1st Avenue South to 8th Street, north to Central Avenue, west to Park Drive and disbands in Margaret Park (north of the Civic Center).

    Check out what is happening at the Library this June! The Library continues to host an art exhibit by the Thursday Morning Drawing group through June titled Subtract/Abstract, which asks the question “What happens when reality evolves from the recognized to the unfamiliar, a new unknown?” The Library also announces their annual Adult Summer Reading program, which runs June 1 - August 10.  This year’s theme for adults is Bask in the Big Sky.  Anyone 19 and older with a library card can participate.
