Creation

Resolution 7401 in 1979, and amended by Resolution 8923 in 1998, and again by Resolution 9128 in 2000.

Purpose

Reviews CDBG funding applications and makes recommendations to the City Commission concerning funding from the City's annual Community Development Block Grant.

Ten members appointed at-large by the City Commission.

Meeting Schedule

The CDC meets only in February and March of each year. The group typically meets three or four evenings during those two months. Meetings are always held in the Civic Center and usually begin at 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. The meeting schedule for 2011 is February 9 at 5:30 pm, February 22 at 5:30 pm, February 23 at 5:30 pm and March 7 at 6 pm.

Residency Requirements

Members must live within the city limits. Persons of low and moderate income and disabled citizens or their representatives are encouraged to apply for membership.

*Resolution 9910 (pdf) stipulates: "Whereas, this Resolution will apply to all Boards and Commissions unless State Law is more restrictive…" and, "It is the policy of the City Commission…maximum uninterrupted length of service on any one Board or Committee shall be two (2) consecutive terms, exclusive of the time served on any unexpired term, for each person appointed…" and, "…all terms shall begin on the date of appointment or as specified by Ordinance."
