What is the Utility Payment and Information System?

The Utility Payment and Information System provides comprehensive, up-to-date account information, billing history, and service and consumption summaries online, and allows you to make your utility payments online from any computer with an internet connection. At home, the office, or on the road, you can access account and billing information with a few clicks of the mouse.

Registration is easy. All you need to register is your current utility bill and an internet capable computer. The system works with the latest version of Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla.

How do I register to use the system?

Registration is easy. All you need to register is your current utility bill, an internet capable computer, and access to your email account. The system works with the latest version of Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla.

  1. Click on the Utility Payment & Information System Sign-on page link.
  2. Ensure you are getting a secure connection, indicated by a padlock in the corner of your browser screen. If the connection is not secure, use the "Email Us" button to let us know.
  3. The initial screen you see is where you will Sign-on. Click on the "Create Pin" button to create a special Personal Identification Number (PIN) for your account. You will need to provide your account number (with the dash) and the cycle-route numbers (all of which are located on your bill). The system requires an email address which will be used to verify your account information. When you've finished entering your account number, cycle-route numbers and email address, click "Submit."

  4. Check your email. You should get an email from "egov"* asking you to verify your enrollment. Click on the link, and you will be directed to the Utility Payment and Information System web site. Provide your account information with your newly created PIN and sign in. Congratulations, you've created your account!

Using the system

Main Screen Display

Once you successfully sign in, you are provided with a main screen display. Current customer information, last payment information and a Pay Bill option are displayed. To the left are a group of buttons that provide different functions.

The Option buttons allow you to look at or print out previous billing statements, look at consumption, payment history, and service summaries. You can display your usage in a text format or in a number of graphical formats. You an also make payments here, either "On Demand" (the City stores your credit card information on our secure server for your later use to speed up the payment process) or "Immediate" (to pay a bill right now by re-entering all data).

Don't be afraid to explore the options provided by the option buttons. You are only viewing information. You cannot change anything apart from your email information and/or PIN number.

How do I pay my bill online?

Click on the Make Payments Button in the Options Buttons list on the left side, or the Pay Bill button on the main information screen.

  1. Confirm your Payment Amount. The system will always default the amount due in this box. Amend the amount if you need to. Press the Continue button.
  2. Review Charges. This will summarize your charges and the amount of the payment you wish to make. Press the "Pay Now" button.
  3. Enter Your Credit Card Information. Ensure your information is correct and complete before pressing "Continue."
  4. Summarize your information. This is a summary of the transaction you are about to make. Once you are sure everything is correct, press "Submit."
  5. Print your receipt. This is optional, but recommended. Press the Print icon on your browser toolbar for a copy of your transaction.
  6. You're done!

Errors

If you see an error in your account information, please contact Utility Customer Service at (406) 727-7660 to correct or update your information, or use the "Email Us" button on the Online Utility Payment and Information screen to send us an email with your problem/concern.
