Minutes April 19, 2007

Minutes of the Regular Meeting – September 20, 2007
Pre-Release Center – Ladies Side

Council Members Attending – Karen Grove, Pam Morris, Maureen McInnis, Jim Porter we had 5 residents present. Meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance

Minutes of Last Meeting – we did not have them so we will approve at the November meeting.

Old Business Reports were given by Karen Grove on the latest actions of the City
Commission. Also a report on the ACTION team was given explaining the New Neighbor Packets. Patty will make sure each member of Council 8 is given some packets to hand out to new neighbors in their areas.

New Business   Sgt. Glen Stinar gave a report of some statistics regarding crime in our area. We really have a pretty quite area in respects to some of the other neighborhoods.
Anna Kraus was at our meeting to inform us that they are planning on building on to their house at 1615 3rd Ave North to extend their Day Care Business. They have visited with their neighbors and they have no objections to their plans and just wanted us to know what was going to be going on. She has already visited with the planning board and plans and following all the correct steps to get this completed. The Council had no opposition to her proposal and was in support of her going forward.
Some questions came up regarding neighborhood issues. Jim Porter asked some questions on actions that can be taken when cats are running loose in the neighborhood. He has tried talking to his neighbors but they just get mad at him and won’t work out a solution. Sgt. Stinar told him to call him and he would go over some ways to solve this problem. Pam Morris has an issue with her neighborhood being so close to United Material and always having dust and debris in the streets and curb. She knows there is nothing that can be done to stop United Materials from doing business but felt if the City would make it an issue to sweep the street more often in that area that would help cut down on the buildup. Karen will present this issue to the commission at next meeting.

Sgt. Stinar also got a complaint regarding weeds in a yard and he will turn the address and issue over to Debbie Kimball at the City who handles these kinds of complaints.

It was decided since some of the Council Members will be gone in October and that a meeting not be held and that our next meeting date will be November 15, 2007.
