Fair Housing Practices

The City uses CDBG funding, along with other funding sources, to furnish services to promote fair housing in Great Falls. The Fair Housing Specialist is available to provide assistance to landlords, tenants, and any other interested individuals. Services provided include but are not restricted to education about the laws related to housing; outreach and education through presentations and written information about fair housing rights and responsibilities; assisting tenants and landowners, through mediation, to reconcile disputes dealing with landlord and tenant relationships; providing detailed training and assistance to individuals and community groups; and, providing referral services to city, state and federal agencies. All services are provided at no cost to citizens.

Fair Housing Services
The City of Great Falls provides assistance to landlords, tenants, or interested individuals through the Planning and Community Development Department's Housing and Community Development Block Grant division. The Fair Housing Specialist is available to provide Fair Housing service to all citizens.
Services provided include but are not restricted to:
- Provide education about Fair Housing to include Fair Housing Act of 1968 and as Amended in 1988, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 504 and Americans With Disabilities Act.
- Provide education about Montana Residential Landlord and Tenant Act of 1977.
- Conduct outreach and education through presentations and written information about fair housing rights and responsibilities.
- Assist tenants and landowners, through mediation, to reconcile disputes dealing with landlord and tenant relationships.
- Provide detailed training and assistance to individuals and community groups.
- Provide referral services to city, state and federal agencies.
This service is furnished in part with Community Development Block Grant funds.
