What is the Great Falls Police Community Foundation?

The Great Falls Police Community Foundation (Foundation) was established as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation. The Foundation funds essential equipment and programs for the Great Falls Police Department (GFPD) which are not included in the city budget.

What is the Purpose of the Foundation?

The purposes as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation are as follows:

  1. To provide a safe method for donors making tax deductible contributions toward specific items needed by the Great Falls Police Department.
  2. To provide stewardship for an effective and efficient method to distribute donated funds in a manner that will allow the GFPD to operate more efficiently or distribute funds in accordance with the donor’s wishes.
  3. To provide for the information flow and education from the GFPD to the citizens of Great Falls and to afford an opportunity for the citizens of Great Falls to become more involved in public safety.
  4. To provide citizens with the opportunity to celebrate successes of the Great Falls Police Department through the joint efforts of the citizens and the Department.
  5. To provide for improved public safety and an improved sense of security.
  6. To be organized and operate exclusively for public safety and educational benefits.

What type of equipment is the GFPD currently seeking to purchase with donations?

Some of the items identified by the staff of the GFPD not currently being funded include the following:

  1. Tasers for each officer. Currently tasers are shared by officers and at times there are not enough for the officers on the street. Tasers have been shown to reduce injuries and workers’ compensation claims.
  2. Key lockboxes. A program to place lock boxes at secure apartments so officers can have access to a key to meet the immediate needs of someone inside the apartment that may not be able to let the officers inside.
  3. Blood clot and tourniquets for each patrol car. These would be used for wounds with more severe bleeding needing immediate care.
  4. Patrol bicycles. Funding is needed to obtain a few more bikes and other necessary equipment such as helmets.
  5. Honor guard uniforms. Honor guard is used at parades, funerals, and special events.

How much of my contribution goes toward the purchase of needed equipment?

100% of contributions go toward the necessary equipment. You can donate toward a specific item or give a general donation

Who is in charge of overseeing the Foundation and its funds?
