Due to ongoing requests by the public for information on how to safely dispose of rechargeable batteries, the City of Great Falls has registered with the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation’s (RBRC) free battery recycling service.

Rechargeable batteries contain toxic chemicals that are safe when the battery is still useful for consumer electronics, but extremely hazardous if they are not disposed of properly. These batteries present environmental hazards and should not be land filled. Rechargeable batteries also contain elements that can be recycled into new batteries and stainless steel products.

Recycling rechargeable batteries makes sense!

The City Recycling Center is a drop off point for recycling rechargeable batteries. The batteries are collected and sent to RBRC. RBRC recycles the following battery chemistries: Nickel Cadmium, Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium Ion and small sealed lead.

Rechargeable battery recycling is available to the public at no-charge. All citizens are encouraged to utilize this service.

Please keep rechargeable batteries out of the land fill!

For other collections points and more information, see the RBRC website.
