What Should I Do With ???

MOTOR OIL -- The City Recycling Center has a tank for used motor oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and hydraulic fluid. There is a $1.00 handling charge and a limit of five gallons per visit.

OIL FILTERS -- Do-it-yourselfers may drain filters upside down for twenty-four hours into your used oil container. The filter may then be recycled with steel.

ANTIFREEZE -- Purchase propylene glycol or reuse if possible. For disposal please bring to the City Recycling Center.

POLYSTYRENE FOAM -- Packaging chips (peanuts) should be saved and reused, or taken to a shipping/mailing business that recycles.

PAINT/SOLVENTS/THINNERS -- Use up as much as possible for intended purpose. Paint can only be accepted after it is dried. Pour into a shallow pan of sand or cat litter to dry. Solvents and thinners may be evaporated in a well-ventilated area.

GROCERY BAGS -- Paper bags may be recycled with cardboard. Reuse plastic bags if possible or ask your grocer if they reuse plastic bags.

CONCRETE, DIRT and LARGE RAILROAD TIES -- The Recycling Center is unable to accept such material. However, we try to keep a list of available disposal sites. Ask Recycling Center Staff.

WHITE GOODS -- As of December 17, 2007, the Recycling Center will not accept white goods (household appliances). Known local facilities that will accept white goods: Pacific Recycling (406) 791-8550; Steel Etc., LLP (406) 761-4848.

REUSE-IT Area

It is our goal at the City Recycling Center to reduce the amount of waste going into our landfills. The Reuse-It Area is a wonderful way of doing just that.

In the Reuse-It Area, you can drop off good usable items that you may no longer want or need. There is no charge for dropping off these unwanted items and anyone may take these items for free. This helps reduce the amount of waste going into our landfills and helps the community at the same time. The only restrictions we have on what may be placed into the Reuse-It Area are refrigeration units and certain hazardous products. We also must insist on screening what is being placed into the Reuse-It Area so to prevent unusable items being dropped off.

Typical items found in the Reuse-It Area are furniture, toys, bikes, tires, appliances, lawn mowers, knickknacks, computers, televisions and even camper shells and boats. You just never know what you'll find in the Reuse-It Area. "It's the cheapest yard sale in town." "It's fun; it's free; and it works!" NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE OR RESALE.
