FINAL WORKING GROUP TO MEET THIS WEEK
GREAT FALLS, Montana – The City of Great Falls began updating its Growth Policy in August 2012. Citizen input and feedback is an important part of the update process – those interested in the process were asked to participate in four different working groups. This week the final working group will begin meeting. The Physical Working Group will look specifically at where growth should occur in the City and what future development should look like. This work will include issues related to land use, transportation and infrastructure issues facing Great Falls now and in the future. The working group meetings will be held in the Gibson Room of the Civic Center (2 Park Drive S) on the following Thursdays: November 29, and December 6 and 13, from 6-7:30 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend these upcoming meetings even if they haven’t attended previous Growth Policy Update meetings. The working groups are the perfect place for residents to provide input and share ideas about the future of Great Falls. Over the past four months, residents, business owners and other stakeholders have participated in the Social, Environmental and Economic Working Groups and discussed issues facing Great Falls, plans for the community’s future and key elements to include in the updated plan.
The City’s Growth Policy is an official document, formally adopted by the City Commission, which helps plan for the community’s future. It recommends a set of goals and strategies intended to manage development and promote the best possible future for Great Falls. It looks beyond current issues and looks to potential problems and opportunities. The document, when adopted, will embody the community’s vision for the next ten years and beyond.
