NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING
The City of Great Falls will hold an informational meeting in the Planning and Community Development Department conference room 112, Civic Center Building, on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. to provide information and receive any public comment upon potential project applications for the Montana Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives (TA) grant program.
The TA program provides funding through the Montana Department of Transportation for programs and projects defined as transportation alternatives, including on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects for improving non-driver access to public transportation and enhanced mobility, community improvement activities, and environmental mitigation; recreational trail program projects; safe routes to school projects; and projects for the planning, design or construction of boulevards and other roadways largely in the right-of-way of former Interstate Systems routes or other divided highways.
More information on the TA program is available at: http://www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/ta_application.shtml
The City is proposing to submit applications to fund the following projects:
West Bank Park ADA Improvements - Construct an ADA compliant concrete access trail from the east end of 3rd Ave NW to River's Edge Trail near the Staybridge Inn. Replace existing deteriorated asphalt trail with new concrete near West Bank Park Trailhead.
Overlook Drive Access Improvements - Construct separated shared use concrete trail along Overlook Drive from the Great Falls Visitor Center to 10th Avenue South.
River Drive South Trail Reroute - Reroute the "temporary" River's Edge Trail alignment from behind the Police Department to follow River Drive South.
The project information can also be reviewed in the Planning and Community Development Office, Civic Center, Room 112, Park Dr. S. through September 4. Any interested person may comment upon the proposed project applications until that date.
