Business, Residential, Involving Community (BRIC) Officer

BRIC Officer Tad Kimmet

The Great Falls Police Department is introducing the BRIC Officer position, a new concept designed to better serve the area residents and businesses. The acronym stands for "Business and Residential, Involving Community." We believe this assignment will make a positive impact in the community and help us address some identified problem areas.

The BRIC Officer is assigned to the lower north area of Great Falls, including the downtown area. This section of the city coincides with our Area C patrol beat and falls primarily within Neighborhood Council #7.

The boundaries are:

  • The Missouri River on the west and north side
  • 9th St. on the east side
  • The south side is bounded by 2nd Ave. S., jogging over to 3rd Ave. S. at 2nd St, then west again to the river

The BRIC Officer works closely with Patrol officers, the Detective Bureau, and fellow Support Service personnel to:

  • Address identified problem areas
  • Act as a liaison with Business Improvement District (BID), the Downtown Safety Committee, Neighborhood Councils, Neighborhood Watch groups, and other established community groups

This position does not require any additional staff, as it is a reassignment of a prior existing position. The BRIC officer will utilize traditional and modern patrol techniques, to include foot and bike patrol, as well as the new Yamaha Rhino provided by Steve’s Sports Center.
