Captain of Support Services Bureau
Captain Jeff Newton currently oversees the Support Services Bureau which encompasses Hiring, Special Projects, Training, the Volunteer Corps, the BRIC Officer, Warrants, Great Falls Housing Authority, Law Related Education, Animal Control, Community Policing, and a civilian Process Server.
Beginning in 1993, Capt. Newton worked for the Kalispell Police Department. In 1997, he went to work for the King County Sheriff’s Office in Seattle. Since joining the GFPD in 1999, Captain Newton has held many positions, such as: Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Police Motorcycle Instructor, Narcotics & Gangs Investigator, Downtown Officer, Special Projects Officer, Grant Writer, Public Information Officer, Community Policing Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Patrol Captain.
Captain Newton holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Montana State University and a Masters Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Great Falls. Captain Newton graduated from the 255th session of the FBI National Academy, and is also a graduate of the FBI Intermountain Command College. He has served on the Cascade County DUI Task Force, as well as on the board of directors for both the Boys and Girls Club and Alliance for Youth.
