The GFPD offers many challenging careers to those interested in serving their community, as sworn officers or in any number of civilian roles.
Concerning sworn officers, typically five or six positions are filled each year. Testings for police officers occur during three cycles per year (Jan/Jun/Oct), administered through the Montana Law Enforcement Testing Consortium (mtletc.org). Applicant eligibility is maintained for one year.
The hiring process, from beginning to end, including background investigation, takes approximately three months. The final lists (lateral and entry level) and needs of the agency will determine which applicants will be extended conditional offers and who will be sent to the Montana Law Enforcement Basic Academy.
