PUBLIC ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND
CDBG & HOME PUBLIC HEARING
GREAT FALLS, Montana – On Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. the public is invited to the City Commission Meeting (Commission Chambers, 2 Park Drive South) to participate in a public hearing regarding the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Proposed Action Plan, proposed projects for the upcoming year for both the CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership programs as well as the policies and performance of each of the grant programs. Each year the City of Great Falls receives CDBG and HOME grant funds.
The CDBG and HOME programs provide communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Since its establishment in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. CDBG is an important tool that helps local governments tackle serious challenges facing their communities. In the past, the CDBG program has funded things like Habitat for Humanity, NeighborWorks, the emergency sewer and water repair program, playground equipment, small business development programs, emergency housing, Meals on Wheels, scholarships for summer and after school programs as well as daycare assistance for students at Paris Gibson High School.
The 2013-2014 Proposed Annual Action Plan, which describes the City’s proposed uses for CDBG and HOME grant funds is available for review and comment through April 25, 2013. The Plan can be viewed on the City’s website(http://www.greatfallsmt.net/planning/consolidated-plan-annual-action-plan), at the Great Falls Public Library (301 2nd Ave N) and the Civic Center (Room 4).
All members of the public are encouraged to attend the public hearing on April 16; handicap access is available on the north side of the building. If you are unable to attend the public hearing, comments may also be submitted through April 25, 2013, to Melanie Lattin, City of Great Falls, Planning & Community Development Department, P.O.
