The recently rejuvenated Park and Recreation Foundation Committee met to recruit potential Board members and to discuss bylaws. The purpose of the Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) fund, is to provide a vehicle for annual fund raising, tax advantaged gifts, and the establishment of a permanent fund generating annual investment returns for the betterment of our City parks and recreational opportunities.
The Foundation would act to enhance the quality and scope of existing Park and Recreation programs and facilities. This foundation is not intended to replace the obligation of the City to provide the basic Park and Recreation needs already established, but to provide additional resources for superior programs.
The Foundation will meet at noon, the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Park and Recreation conference room, 1700 River Drive North. Interested parties are encouraged to attend or call Bryan Thies, Acting Chairman 761-8888 ext. 103.
