| City Commission Work Session | Mayor Joan Bennett presiding |
CALL TO ORDER: 5:45 P.M.
PRESENT: Mayor Bennett, Commissioners Beecher, Downer, Gray, and Rosenbaum. Also present were City Manager, City Attorney, Directors of Community Development, Acting Director of the Fairgrounds, Park & Recreation, Planning, Library, Public Works, Fire Chief, Police Chief, and City Clerk.
Bob Horne, Planning Director, reviewed a proposed ordinance that would create a Residential Office Transition Zone. Mr. Horne explained that the zone would be established in order to provide a means of compatible transition from commercial and/or industrial uses to residential uses. The R/O zone is also intended to provide a transition of scale and character so that the stability and integrity of adjacent residential areas, non-residential areas, and the transition areas themselves were protected.
The City Commission concurred with the proposed ordinance and requested Mr. Horne finalize it and submit it for formal action at a future meeting.
Jane Weber, General Manager, of the L&C Interpretative Center reviewed the proposed events for the grand opening to be held on July 4, 1998.
Patty Gumenberg, Acting State Fair Manager, reported that the State Fair Board and State Fair Staff are proposing that the fees for the 1998 State Fair remain the same except for the teen fee which is proposed to raise one dollar and the car parking fee to also be raised one dollar. Mrs. Gumenberg also reported that the night show package will also be modified due to the increasing difficulty of getting performers to do two concerts in one evening.
A brief discussion followed. Mrs. Gumenberg stated that the proposed fees will be submitted for formal consideration on the March 17, 1998, agenda.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the regular work session on March 3, 1998, adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
