CALL TO ORDER: 5:45 P.M.
ROLL CALL: City Commissioners present: Bill Beecher, Sandy Hinz, Diane Jovick-Kuntz and John Rosenbaum. Mayor Gray was excused. Also present were the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, Acting City Attorney, Directors of Community Development, Planning, Public Works, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Acting Director of Park and Recreation, and the City Clerk.
Chuck Tourtillott, Cascade County Humane Society, reported that the Blue Ribbon Committee had been meeting regularly to discuss the City's animal control ordinance. Following their review of the current ordinance, they recommended that it be rewritten. Mr. Tourtillott reviewed some of the recommended changes and stated that the Blue Ribbon Committee now wanted to meet with citizen groups to review their recommendations and to seek input. He added that following the public input phase, the Committee would bring the ordinance back to the Commission for consideration and a formal public hearing.
Kory Larsen, Chief Prosecuting Attorney, reviewed new state statutes that went into affect October 1, 2005. He stated that the City Attorney's office was working closely with the Police Department on the implementation of these new laws. The laws Mr. Larsen reviewed pertained to: speeding in school zones, DUI, open container and Minor in Possession.
Following a brief question and answer session from the Commission, Mayor pro-tempore Beecher adjourned the regular work session of October 4, 2005, at 6:50 p.m.
