GFPD Drug Task Force Investigation 8/3/2023

Drug Task Force Investigation

GREAT FALLS, Montana – August 2, 2023, the Russell Country Drug Task Force (RCDTF) launched an operation to arrest known drug traffickers operating in Great Falls. The operation resulted in the Great Falls Police Department’s High Risk Unit being deployed to the residence at 1108 10th Ave NW, where a suspect was taken into custody, without injury, after a standoff that lasted approximately three hours.

The investigation leading up to the events of August 2, 2023, is the result of a long-term effort by the RCDTF to identify members and patterns of a large drug trafficking organization that has worked its way from Michigan, through North Dakota, and into Montana. Since late 2022, this organization has worked to infiltrate Great Falls, through the distribution of fentanyl pills and we believe the organization has accrued thousands of dollars, at the expense of our citizens’ health and prosperity.

The August 2, 2023 operation resulted in the arrest of these three individuals, listed are their charges.

Fentanyl is a major problem in our world today and your drug task force takes it seriously. We strongly encourage community members to understand the severity of drugs like fentanyl, to educate children about the dangers of drug use, and to report suspicious behavior that might be indicative of drug trafficking.  Only together, can we stem the flow of narcotics into our community and make it a safer place to live, work and play.

The RCDTF is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Great Falls Police Department, Cascade County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigation, US Drug Enforcement Administration, US Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Homeland Security Investigations, US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and is supported by the Montana Army Guard, Cascade County Attorney’s Office, and the local US Attorney’s Office.
