    City offices including the Great Falls Public Library, Community Recreation Center, Natatorium and the Great Falls Animal Shelter will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28 for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Shelter will also be closed on Saturday (11/29). There will be no sanitation collection on Thursday (11/27) and garbage collection will be one day later than the regular schedule for customers on Thursday and Friday.

    Great Falls Public Library Director Kathy Mora and volunteer Pat Carroll received the Montana Literacy Award this fall for their work in developing the Little Free Libraries in Great Falls.  This award was given by the Montana State Reading Council. According to the Council’s website, any individual, agency or institution who promotes literacy within the community is eligible to receive the MSRC Literacy Award.

    The Great Falls Public Library Foundation is excited to announce that the 25th Annual Book-A-Thon, begins November 1. One half of the proceeds are used to purchase children’s books for the library. The other half is reserved to ensure that future Great Falls area children will also benefit from the very best children’s literature. With your donation, you can support the many thousands of local children who read the library’s books, use its resources or attend the library’s various children’s programs.     Great Falls Fire Rescue is proud to announce that Ron Martin has been hired as the City’s new Deputy Fire Marshal. Ron Martin has been with Great Falls Fire Rescue for 14 years, most recently as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Operations. He brings with him to the role tremendous experience and expertise. We're excited to have him in this new role!

    The Great Falls Public Library is hosting special Story Time guests August 12 - 16 and 22. Story Times are designed for children aged 30 months to five years old, accompanied by an adult. They take place from 10:30 to 11 am on the scheduled dates. These Story Times are free.

    Nine Little Free Libraries have found homes in Great Falls parks. Little Free Libraries are “take a book, return a book” gathering places where neighbors share books and stories. At its most basic, a little free library is a structure, or a box, that holds books, and is placed in a public area where community members can borrow a book and replace it with another. This program has gained much popularity nationwide.

    During the scheduled power outage on the afternoon of Thursday, July 10, outlying City facilities will remain open, but will not have access to City servers, which means those departments will not be able to receive and send emails or have the ability to take credit card payments.

    The golf courses, water park, parking garages, Passport Parking and the Animal Shelter will only be able to take cash during the  power outage or until the servers and internet are back online.
