    All children are invited to take part in the 81st Annual Pet & Doll Parade on Thursday, July 23 at 7 pm.; and pets of course are welcome.   This event is FREE to children of all ages.   This year’s theme is “Imaginations Soar”.  Registration is ongoing at the Park & Recreation Office, 1700 River Drive North, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

    The 7th Annual Lions Family FunFest is Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lions Park (10th Avenue South and 27th Street).  The event is FREE and is being hosted by the Great Falls Lions Club and Great Falls Park and Recreation. It’s a perfect day for families, neighbors and friends to gather for a day filled with fun, food, entertainment, and celebration. There will be activities for children of all ages and adults.

    The portion of River’s Edge Trail between Falls Construction and the pedestrian underpass located under Giant Springs Road reopened late Friday afternoon. The section had been closed for repairs to the eroding gravel shoulders along the asphalt trail that had been a safety concern.

    Great Falls now has three official pickleball courts.  Rocky Mountain Hardscapes spent the past few days painting lines on the tennis courts at Lions Park, creating three official size courts for pickleball.  Local pickleball players have been using the courts the past few summers, but have relied on temporary lines.  The courts are now useable for both tennis and pickleball.

    Anaconda Hills Golf Course is now offering Footgolf.  Footgolf is a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf. It is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf facility on shortened holes.  It’s a great activity for families, children and adults.  It is a pleasant change for golfers, and a great training and conditioning tool for soccer players.  But most important, it is fun.

    Bill and Joan-Nell Macfadden have been named winners of the sixth annual Paris Gibson Award.  The Award, established by the Paris Gibson Month Celebration Committee, is given to honor a citizen or citizens of Great Falls who embody the vision and excellence exemplified by the founder of Great Falls, Paris Gibson.  This is the second time a couple has won the Award.

    The Spray Park in Dudley Anderson Park (adjacent to the Water Tower Pool) will open Friday, June 12.  Due to water restrictions on the west side, the Spray Park in Jaycee Park will not open until Monday, June 15.  The Spray Park hours at both parks will be 1:00-5:00 p.m. daily.  The Spray Parks are free through Friday, June 26.

    Tickets for the Fifth Annual Waking the Dead tours at Highland Cemetery, 2010 33rd Ave. So. in Great Falls are on sale now.  The tours sponsored by the Paris Gibson Month Celebration Committee, will be held Sunday, June 28, 1:00-2:30 p.m. and 3:00-4:30 p.m. Tickets to ride are $15 and to walk are $10.  They are available at the Great Falls Public Library and Great Falls Park and Recreation Department.

    Summer is officially here! The Electric City Water Park (ECWP) opens for the season Friday, June 12. ECWP will be open daily June 12 - August 25, from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. On Wednesdays, the Water Park will remain open until 8:00 p.m. ECWP includes the Mitchell Pool, the wading pool and interactive play structure (Little Squirts Soak Zone); the Power Tower Plunge (two great water slides); and the Flow Rider where participants can boogie board, ride the lazy river and head down the riptide slide.

    The Park and Recreation Aquatics Division has a new water toy that’s sure to entertain kids of all ages – the "Wibit". Two special events have been scheduled to introduce this innovative system that transforms an ordinary pool into a water adventure. An aquatics obstacle course, the Wibit features all forms of water play and its interlocking pieces can be put together in a variety of combinations, creating a new adventure every time.

    The unusually warm and dry winter has created higher use at the Pacific Steel & Recycling Trailside Dog Park this year. While the mild winter has been good for humans and their canine companions, it has caused considerable turf damage at the park. Starting Wednesday, May 6, the dog park will be closed to the public for approximately three weeks turf repair.

    The 36th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015.  Join close to 4,000 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who enter the race each year.  The five-mile road race offers a competitive format and the three-mile run offers both a competitive and recreational format.     The City’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m. the south end of Gibson Park. It's always fun no matter the weather!  The Hunt will feature over 5,000 eggs filled with candy and special prizes. In addition, there will be special treats for all participants.  The Easter Egg Hunt age divisions include:  1-3, 4-6 and 7-9. The Easter Bunny will be making a guest appearance so don’t forget your basket!

    Anaconda Hills Golf Course and driving range will open for the season at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1.  The gates and pro shop open at 8:30 a.m. to schedule tee times.  Tee times can be made two days in advance by calling either pro shop; Anaconda Hills, 761-8459 or Eagle Falls, 761-1078 (9:30 a.m. through March 31, 8:30 a.m. beginning April 1).  The course will be open daily, weather permitting.  Use of carts will be determined based on current conditions and will be evaluated on a daily basis.
