    Celebrate Presidents’ Day with a special open swim scheduled for Monday, February 15th at the Natatorium.  The event will feature the Wibit, an aquatics obstacle course that transforms an ordinary pool into a water adventure, entertaining kids of all ages. Hours are 1-4 p.m. and admission is $5 per person.

    The public is invited to a Park & Recreation Master Plan Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, January 20. Two meetings will be offered, one at 3 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. in the Missouri Room of the Civic Center (2 Park Drive South). The purpose of the Park & Recreation Master Plan is to create a clear set of objectives and provide direction for development and enhancement of the City’s parks and recreation system for the short-term, mid-term and long term. Areas of focus include parks, trails, urban forest, recreation/aquatic programs, and amenities/facilities.

    Sign up now for swimming lessons offered by the City of Great Falls Park and Recreation.  Classes are for ages 6 months to adult, from beginners to advanced, and are taught by YMCA/American Red Cross certified lifeguards.  Class sizes are limited so register now! All levels are available at each session. Classes are held at the Morony Natatorium, 111 12th Street North.

    The Park and Recreation Department is holding a special open swim day on Friday, December 11th from 5-9 pm at the Morony Natatorium swimming pool featuring our newest swim feature the WIBIT. The WIBIT consists of 6 climb on water components that offers lots of fun and challenge for all ages. There are two swim times based on age; ages 6-10 open swim from 5-7 pm and ages 11-17 open swim from 7-9 pm. Cost is $5 per person.

    Eagle Falls and Anaconda Hills Golf Courses have closed for the season.  will close for the season this week. Anaconda Hills will open for Winter Golf, November 16 – December 31; followed by Eagle Falls January 4 – February 15; contingent on weather conditions.  Hours will be 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Gates will open at 11 a.m. and be locked at 3:30 p.m.  All golfers must be off the course before 3:30 p.m.

    It's the time of year to rake leaves.

    The City's Leaf Pickup Program begins Monday, October 26, and runs through through Monday, November 16. Residents within the Boulevard District area are being requested to deposit leaves on the boulevard next to the curb and not in the street gutter. For those residing within the Boulevard District, the Natural Resources Division will vacuum leaves from the boulevards. The City's Street Division will be sweeping streets in conjunction with the leaf pick-up.

     Anaconda Hills Golf Course, located at 2400 Smelter Avenue in Black Eagle, will be hosting a Footgolf Tournament on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 2 p.m.   Individuals or teams of four can register for the tournament.     The Natatorium re-opens for the season on Tuesday, September 8, and operating hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Open swim is offered Mondays from 1-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. The Natatorium is available for exclusive rental on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Register now for swimming lessons!

    The dog days of summer will soon be over, so treat your pooch to a dip in the pool at the Electric City Water Park.  Once a year, the Water Park provides the opportunity for community dogs to enjoy the pool.  “Drool in the Pool” will be Wednesday, September 9, 4:00-7:00 p.m.  The fee is $5.00 per animal.  All dogs are required to have proof of current vaccinations.  People are not allowed in the pool; pets only.

    The portion of River’s Edge Trail between Falls Construction and the pedestrian underpass located under Giant Springs Road reopened late Friday afternoon. The section had been closed for repairs to the eroding gravel shoulders along the asphalt trail that had been a safety concern.

    Anaconda Hills Golf Course is now offering Footgolf.  Footgolf is a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf. It is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf facility on shortened holes.  It’s a great activity for families, children and adults.  It is a pleasant change for golfers, and a great training and conditioning tool for soccer players.  But most important, it is fun.

    Great Falls now has three official pickleball courts.  Rocky Mountain Hardscapes spent the past few days painting lines on the tennis courts at Lions Park, creating three official size courts for pickleball.  Local pickleball players have been using the courts the past few summers, but have relied on temporary lines.  The courts are now useable for both tennis and pickleball.
