Neighborhood Council Summer Socials, Candidate Forum, and Meeting – August 19-24

Three Neighborhood Councils (NC) are hosting Summer Socials this weekend. Next week, NC #5 is holding a Candidate Forum, and NC#4 is hosting its monthly meeting. Below is a brief summary of the activities. 

Neighborhood Council Summer Socials – Enjoy ice cream and great conversations with your neighbors. All events are free and open to the public, thanks to the efforts of the Council members and generous sponsors.

  • NC#3 – August 19 at 1 pm in Jaycee Park
  • NC#7 – August 20 at 12 pm in Carter Park
  • NC#5 – August 20 at 2 pm in Russell Park

Neighborhood Council #5 (NC#5) is hosting a Candidate Forum on Monday, August 21, at 7:00 pm in the Great Falls Clinic Specialty Center Conference Room, 3000 15th Avenue South. Meet and learn more about the Mayoral, City Commission, & Municipal Court Judge candidates. The Municipal General Election will be held on November 7.

Candidates invited include:

  • Mayor: Joe McKenney, Cory Reeves, Casey Schreiner, and Abby Brown
  • Commissioner: Eric Hinebauch, Rick Tryon, Kendall Cox, Shannon Wilson, and Micaela Stroop
  • Municipal Court Judge - Dept. A: Steven Bolstad
  • Municipal Court Judge - Dept. B: Cayle Halberg and Mark Dunn

Neighborhood Council #4's (NC#4) monthly meeting occurs on Thursday, July 27, at 6:30 pm at the Heritage Baptist Church, 900 52nd Street North. Want to serve on a Neighborhood Council? While the deadline to have your name on the ballot passed, you can still file as a write-in candidate. Below is a link to the Write-In Candidate Declaration of Intent and Oath of Candidacy. This form needs to be submitted to the Cascade County Elections Office by September 5 at 5 pm. The election for the Neighborhood Council will be held on November 7, 2023, and the 2-year term begins in January 2024. Currently, there are openings in Neighborhood Councils 2, 5, and 9.

In Great Falls, there are currently 9 Neighborhood Councils. Their purpose is to serve the citizens of Great Falls by providing a direct link to City government within the neighborhoods.  Each Council is made up of 5 members who were elected by the voters in that Council area.  Website | Facebook
