Containers are placed on one side of the alley and are for use by 2 to 3 families per container. However, any City container in the alley may be used by the residents of that alley that are on City Sanitation Service.
To report a damaged container or lid, please contact the Sanitation Division Office at (406) 771-1401.
Items that should not be placed in container:
Do not place bulky items, yard waste or liquids such as paint and other solvents in the containers. Paints may be dried out by mixing with sand or kitty litter, let dry, bag and place into regular container. Most solvents may be diluted and flushed down the sanitary sewer.
No Alley Access
Push the container out to the edge of the curb away from obstructions such as parked vehicles, fences or mailboxes. The opening of the container should face the street with the handle of the container facing toward your property.
Bulky items and sacks of leaves or grass, should be placed near the curb, 2-3 feet away from your residential container on your scheduled collection day. A separate truck called a "brush truck" will pick up your extra items on your scheduled collection day.
THE SOLID WASTE DIVISION REQUESTS THAT HOT ASHES NOT BE PUT DIRECTLY IN THE CONTAINERS. PLEASE WET ASHES DOWN AND PUT IN A SEPARATE METAL CONTAINER THAT CAN BE THROWN AWAY.
