On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the City of Great Falls partnered with Veolia Water to host a Hazardous Waste Collection event for the citizens of Great Falls. The Veolia team filled an entire semi-trailer load with hazardous waste items. All these items will be disposed of properly so as not to end up in the City’s Wastewater Treatment system or our local waterbodies.

  • Some of the items received and their volumes:
  • Flammable pesticide liquids – 330 gallons
  • High BTU blendable liquids – 500 gallons
  •  Paint-related material – 16 cubic yards
  • Organic/inorganic acids – 55 gallons
  • Lithium-ion batteries – 20 units

“We are excited to see the community response to our first collection event and plan to offer more in the future,” stated Nate Besich, Environmental Division Supervisor. “Providing a safe and convenient way for residents to dispose of materials helps to reduce the amount that ends up in the landfill or is improperly disposed of, which can have harmful consequences for the environment and public health.”
